Don't mind me, this is something I've wanted to put up for a few days... I'll probably add to it later... You may add more questions in the comments if you want... though they may spawn more posts, not just answers here...
[This is sort of a second attempt at an introduction. For my initial attempts see I., II., III.]
Who are you?
I'm just some guy... I don't think it matters that much. I'm studying economics at an unspecified university in California (the precise location has not leaked out yet...). Don't know how much longer I can handle all this though because of my growing distaste for economics, my long held hatred of school in general, living so far away from my girlfriend, etc. ...
What's with the weird names?
I use the moniker camelCase because it seemed like a good, vague alter ego at the time. Whatever. I picked the name Kehlkopfmikrofon at random from a German dictionary. Kehlkopfmikrofon means throat microphone.
Why do you place so much emphasis on definitions?
Because they're so important. For communication to take place we have to be talking about the same thing. And that starts with agreeing on definitions, at least for our discussion.
I've been looking back at some of the older posts and you seem to contradict yourself sometimes. What's up with that?
Yeah I'm sorry. I do have a tendency to re-think positions and come to new conclusions. I feel like this way is better than clinging to the same old bullshit.
Why you gotta swear?
Why not? I really don't see anything wrong with it. I'm sorry if you do, but if it really bugs you that much, go write a Greasemonkey script to hide all those naughty words from your eyes.
Where do you get these weird pictures?
Most of them come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. You can find more information about the ones that I do get from there by taking the base file name from Blogger and going to Wikipedia and searching for “Image:filename” where “filename” is that base file name.
What's the criteria for the things that you link to?
Generally I'll link to anything in posts unless it's from a source that I just plain don't like. There are a few sources like that. Pretty arbitrary. But most everything else is fair game. The links on the right side are all things that I like or agree with to some extent.
What is the mission of this blog?
What is the mission of any blog? I don't know. Destroy all power? This is mostly just a place for me to vent. Communication is important. I don't know. Mission... I dunno... come to some level of certainty on everything...? That's something I have always sought. That's why objectivism was so attractive to me. I guess it would be nice if I were able to get other people to begin to question things that they take for granted but that's not something I much expect to be able to do. I don't know. The purpose of this blog, I suppose, is to discuss what I'm thinking about and come to some conclusions. I don't really want this to be a conventional blog, because I don't think I write in a very conventional way. I can't imagine posts from this blog ever being published in a book. That would be insane. I am incapable of editing anything I write to any great extent, and I don't think much I write could be publishable ever.
